Instructions

Ingredients for 6 people:

18 slices of wholemeal bread or rye bread.

To spread on bread: butter, fresh cheese, mayonnaise.

For garnish: smoked salmon, kippers, eggs or salmon loin, boiled shrimp, marinated anchovies or pickled, cucumber, tomatoes, boiled eggs or scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, sliced salami, Pate, gherkins or pickled, onions to taste.

For your convenience all ingredients prepared in advance: slice vegetables, meats and cheeses already cut at the correct measure, softened butter.

It is preferable, however, Smorrebrod garnish at the last minute, especially if you use mayonnaise to coat bread.

Keep your sandwiches covered with plastic wrap until ready to serve.

Serve with an aperitif, but can also serve as a starter and, in Denmark, it is not uncommon during an evening among friends at home or in the pub, the only food is precisely the ' Smorrebrod, various and abundant, between a beer and another.
